For a Pub/Drinks in McGregor

Jimmy’s
Jimmy’s is open most days and is fast becoming “the village pub”. They have basic pub grub to accompany drinks. Closed Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday’s.

Bemind Wines
Ilse Schutte makes some unusual wines in true garagiste fashion. Great wine tastings and sales available, 10:00 – 14:00 Wednesday to Saturday – Voortrekker Road, opposite Jimmy’s pub.

Lords Winery
Lord’s has delightful wines and MCC. Host to the main whisky events, Lords is a pretty drive approximately 10km past McGregor on a dirt road. They do have platters for lunch as well as pizzas and burgers. 023-6251265. 0900 to 1600 daily. Sat 10000-1600, Sunday 1000 to 1400. Breakfasts are served on the Weekends.

Tanagra
Approximately 5km short of McGregor offers interesting wines and Grappa.

The Wider Breede Valley

For food in Robertson itself;

Lourettas (Paul Kruger Street) has lovely quiches, pies and cakes.

Bourbon Street is open for lunch and dinner.

Strictly Coffee has good coffee and simple but satisfying food.

Four Cousins as you enter Robertson from the Worcester side sells the full range of Van Loveren wines, bubbles, Gins and Whisky.

Just outside Robertson on route 62 you can find some lovely restaurants including;

Christinas restaurant at Van Loveren Wine Estate. It’s charming and set in a garden oasis – 076 8621995 for bookings.

Viljoensdrift – 023 6151901, offers a deli and hour-long boat cruises down the Breede which may need to be booked in advance depending on the season.

Kleinhoekkloof has very special home-made charcuterie, great wine and is an amazing experience. Visits are by appointment only – 023 6152121.

Wine is plentiful in the Breede Valley and each to their own taste.

For beer lovers, Saggy Stone Brewery, 083-4533526, makes for a fun visit with good craft beer, honest food, with an extensive wine list for non-beer drinkers. It’s 44km from McGregor heading toward Worcester, with the last 11km on a pretty good dirt road.
